Portmellon - InformationDial Code : 01726 Population : (census 2001) HistoryPortmellon is situated on the south coast of Cornwall, less than a mile away from Mevagissey and six miles south of St Austell. It has a lovely sandy beach with safe bathing and a public slipway for launching boats. Just up from the slipway is the Rising Sun pub with off street parking that serves a lovely refreshing Cornish pint after a hard days boating / sunbathing. Portmellon has a long history of building traditional boats with several amazing wooden hulled boats leaving the workshop over the years, including Denis Hame's 20 footer named Vivian.
