Tony Haven | | Date Added: July 12, 2010 12:56:26 PM | | On Saturday, July 17, Gwithian based lap tapping guitarist, who has just returned from his 3rd UK tour of the year, will be headlining the Gig on the Green festival taking place in Mount Hawke.
This will be the start of a run of shows in Cornwall after a recent tour that took the 22 year old musician between the Isle of Wight and the Scotish border.
Tony has been touring none stop, performing in over 70 cities across the UK whilst promoting the release of 2 EP's and a DVD this year, and he shows no signs of slowing down.
In the spring of 2009, a series of events seemed to be leading the end of a career that had only just began for the young guitarist.
"After performing with a metal band for a couple of years, I started to develop problems with my left hand and could see the early signs of R.S.I (repetitive strain injury) on its way, this pretty much stopped me from playing as I didn't want to cause any more harm".
This was only a small set back however, and after only a month of the band parting ways he was back on the music scene with a new approach to guitar.
His lap tapping technique, which can involve 2 tunings in one song or even playing 2 guitars at the same time, has taken the UK circuit and by storm and gained thousands of views online. This unique style is carefully crafted through many different influences.
"I started out writing on my local beach during the day or night and gradually moved between cities in the Southwest looking for peoples reactions, I used to walk for miles between any open mic night I could find in Bristol and thats how my first tour came about."
Since then, the solo lap tapper has worked none stop to hone his skills, with hundreds of shows across the UK, dates in Europe and Australia being booked, the release of 2 EP's and a DVD, festival dates with Calvin Harris and also endorsements with Dovetail Strings and Nine Plus Clothing.
Tony Haven, who has just released a brand new EP "Trust" which is available from all online download sites, is creating a sound that is fresh, organic and not to be missed.
