OUR DONKEY BOX IS DONKEY'S YEARS OLD | | Date Added: March 13, 2009 02:50:16 PM | | OUR DONKEY BOX IS DONKEY’S YEARS OLD
Owners of The Tamar Valley Donkey Park are appealing for help after their Donkey Box failed its MOT. The small box, used to transport their donkeys to events around Devon and Cornwall, will take time and money to fix up, something of which the donkeys have little to spare. So the park has appealed to local people to magic them up a mode of transport.
Colleen is a white donkey and one of the park’s most popular residents – and at this time of year she’s really in demand. She loves to travel around the region to represent the park and has a full diary of visits for Palm Sunday, but no transport.
Colleen is an old hand at taking part in Palm Sunday services, but this year she looks set to disappoint her fans is she is unable to leave the park.
Owner of the Tamar Valley Donkey Park David Gibbons said; “We would like to appeal to anyone that can donate or lend us a small ‘ladies’ box for the Palm Sunday weekend. It needs to be less than 3.5 tonnes as it’s to transport Colleen down some very narrow lanes to some of the smaller churches. Jesus rode on a donkey into Jerusalem and, as he entered Jerusalem, people welcomed him by throwing palms down in His path. With Colleens help the children and adults in the congregation will be able to imagine how it must have felt on that very first Palm Sunday. The promise of meeting a real donkey causes a great deal of excitement amongst the local children it would be terrible to think that we might have to let them all down. “
If you are able to help Colleen in time for Palm Sunday please call The Tamar Valley Donkey Park on 01822 834072 or email david@donkeypark.com
